• Immediately following the procedure, there are no restrictions with eating or drinking.
• It’s common to experience swelling, redness, and mild discomfort after the procedure.
• Over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be taken if necessary. Avoid aspirin or other blood-thinning medications.
• Sleep with your head elevated on pillows for the first few nights following the procedure to minimize swelling.
• Try to avoid direct pressure on your lips the first night following the procedure.
• Only ice the first night following the procedure IF advised.
• You can use Chapstick or Vaseline on the lips as needed.
• The next morning after procedure, it is okay to ice your lips with the ice pack resting gently between lips; avoid direct frontal pressure.
• If you have a history of fever blisters, make sure you take an antiviral pill (ex: Valtrex or Acyclovir) twice a day for two days following treatment to prevent a breakout.
• If you notice any lumps, massage them starting on day 3 after the procedure.
• You will experience swelling the first 48 to 72 hours. Your lips may feel bigger than they are or may even look uneven due to swelling the first couple days. This will resolve and we will recheck everything in two weeks.
